 Go Outside and Smell the…Ruffles?

That’s right! Ruffles have made their way back to the Runway. Not to be confused with the huge ruffles of the 1980’s bridesmaids and prom dresses, Spring/Summer 2013 Ruffles trend is more streamlined and very feminine.

It is best to wear ruffles on one item of clothing at a time. A top with ruffles should be paired with a very simple bottom, such as straight leg jeans or a pencil skirt (even a peplum skirt would work).

The same is true in the reverse, a ruffled bottom should be accompanied by a very simple and fitted top, such as a pretty tank or fitted tee.

Not sure if ruffles are your thing? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one.
I believe the last time I wore ruffles, I was maybe 9 years old. My dress had a minimal amount of floral (enough for my mother’s approval, but not enough to completely traumatize me…sorry mom) with a slight ruffle mid-thigh. The dress had a special bonus: it was double sided! One side was cream and the other side was a light teal.
Ease into the trend using accessories. Clutches and handbags are an excellent way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe without making a major commitment.
